New to Second St JMS? On behalf of our parent community, welcome! Here are some tips and info that you might find helpful.
The first day of the 2025-26 school year is Tuesday 2 September 2025.
You will receive your class assignment / teacher's name at the end of the week before school starts.
Check the About the school page for arrival, recess, lunch, and dismissal times.
Get the SchoolMessenger app (register using the same email you provided to the TDSB) to report your child's absences and get notified of official school emails.
Get the SchoolCash Online app to pay for field trips. pizza days, and more.
If arriving by car, please stop on Maple St (south of the school). The school parking lot is off-limits to parents.
Kindergarten students have their own fenced yard, supervised during the arrival and dismissal times. Accompany your child to the yard so that they can safely be accounted for by the teacher or supervisor.
Get your Vulnerable Sector Check done so you can visit your child's classroom, attend field trips, and more.
Packing lunch and snacks for the first time? Check out this guide for ideas! Remember, no peanuts or other nuts are allowed -- check that your granola bars, cookies, etc do not contain nuts, nut butters or Nutella.
The school operates a snack program. If you opt-in, your child will receive snacks from the school. The program does not start until several weeks into the year, so make sure to pack snacks as well as lunch until it starts. The snack program operates by grants and donations, please consider donating if you can.
